ZITA WEBER PH.D.
Dr. Zita Weber currently
is a social work academic at The University of Sydney, Australia.
She was a therapist, couples counselor and family therapist
during her professional practice years. As a therapist, she ran
self-esteem groups for women, parent training groups and
‘busting-your-blues’ workshops. Zita worked in the mental
health, rehabilitation and child protection arenas.
She is the author of over
a dozen academic publications and continues to present papers
at international conferences. Zita has written for
The
Austin-American Statesman and Big Beautiful Women
and
had short stories published in the Texas literary journal,
Shotgun Blast. Zita was interviewed extensively on
radio in Boston and Austin on her research into women and
depression and relationships and sexuality.
Zita was a visiting
academic at Boston University (1993, 1997, 2000, and 2004) and
The University of Texas at Austin (1995). She continues to
conduct research in the area of mental health, loss and grief
and relationship issues.
Since 1997, Zita has had
five non-fiction books published in Australia:
Back from
the Blues (1997), Out of the Blues (2000), Good
Grief (2001) and The Best Years of a Woman’s Life
(2003) and Skills for Human Service Practice
(with Agi O'Hara)(2006).
The Best Years of a Woman’s Life
(2004) also
has been published in Britain. Zita has extensive media
experience in promoting these books and has been a regular
guest on radio shows and appeared on television, including Good
Morning Australia, Sunrise, Mornings with Kerri-Anne and
Denise.
Zita was born in Hungary
and lives in Sydney, Australia.
